New Taipei City offers a rich mix of natural scenery and urban landscapes that can satisfy a range of location-shooting needs for production crews working on all types of film and television projects. Domestic and international production crews alike have discovered ideal locations across the city. Examples include the secret locations where internationally acclaimed director Martin Scorsese filmed Silence, the old military dependents’ village depicted in director Tsai Ming-liang’s Stray Dogs, and the Gold Museum that forms part of the scenery of director John Woo’s The Crossing.

The New Taipei City Film Assist and Development Center was established in 2011 to create a friendly and inviting environment for film and television projects. The Film Assist and Development Center provides online services for production teams with queries about the city’s shoot location database, along with a dedicated consultation window to provide administrative assistance to production teams.

The Film Assist and Development Center accepts and handles shoot applications submitted by production teams, conducts location surveys, consulting, and loans, and offers administrative support to simplify filming for production teams to help them save manpower and time.
