(10/02-10/29) Yonghe Korean Cultural Festival

Objectives

1. Enrich art in life.
2. Develop local features.
3. Integrate local resources
4. Market Zhongxing shopping district in Yonghe.
5. Construct a special Yonghe Korean Street

Introduction

1. A lot of Korean stores are gathered in Zhongxiang Street in Yonghe selling Korean products such as chili powder, instant noodles, electric blankets, kimchi, pomelo jelly, etc. It is the result of numerous Korean Chinese moving there. In order to shape the unique Korean Street Culture in Yonghe, the local government will invite village offices and community development associations to co-organize the festival and schools and local art workers will also be invited.

2. Over 100 Korean culture related stores in Zhongxing Street combining with the local culture has shaped a unique Korean style. Yonghe Zhongxing Garment Association is invited to assist in organizing stores that are willing to participate in marketing activities for Korean cultural industries to set up stands in Korean Culture Experience.

About the Activity

1. For sales held in the shopping district during the Korean Month, stores in Zhongxing Street will work with the sales in October, offering discounts to attract people.

2. The Themed Activity Day - A Themed Activity Day will be held in October, inviting Korean traditional art performing groups and pop cultural performing groups to attract people and media.

3. Kimchi DIY Activity - Allowing citizens to get to know Korean food culture via kimchi DIY activity, and attracting people to attend other activities.

4. Korean Culture Experience Stand -traditional Korean customs try-on, introduction of Korean characters and Korean teaching..., for the public to get to know Korean culture.

Local Highlights

The purpose is to create a special cultural feature for Boai Street to be a street with cultural atmosphere through collaborated efforts of the local people and businessmen. Also by including the existing Yan San-Lang Art Museum, Jinou Girls High School and Yonghe Soybean Milk, Boai Street is shaped into an art corridor with local features, offering the public the best space for shopping and leisure outside of their hectic work schedule as well as the perfect venue for art nurturing. Furthermore, with the establishment of the Art Street, the living quality of the local people and the development of nearby areas are improved.

It is the first "comprehensive and educational" museum of world religions, located at the intersection of Yonghe Zhongshan Road and Boasheng Road. With the central purposes of "respect, love and tolerance", the general public in Taiwan is able to enjoy time spent in the field of religions and find respect for every religion, tribe and life. The museum is divided into "Water Curtain", "Pilgrimage Path", "Golden Lobby", "The Creation of Universe Hall", "The Journey of Life Hall", "Avatamsaka World", "The Hall of World Religion Exhibition", "Life Awakening Area", and "Spiritual Leaning Hall". Interactive display of religious artifacts and high-tech multi-media videos are used extensively to demonstrate the trueness, kindness and beauty of religions in a lively way through its diverse contents.

Located at the Zhongxing Street in front of MRT Dingxi Station is the famous Korean Street. The logo, especially designed by Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts School featuring colors of emerald green, peach blossom, bright yellow and azure blue, symbolizes the perseverance and industriousness of Korean people. A vast array of beautiful and fine things including tops, shirts, skirts, pants, silk quilts, ginseng, mushrooms and chili powder from Korea are sold in stores on this street. The street extends to several hundred meters with a total of 135 Korean stores one after another offering products of various kinds.
