Origin

Sanchong Bihua Cloth Street reached its prosperity in the 1980s and even enjoyed a reputation abroad.  However, after the 80s, the withering of the textile industry also impacted the cloth street.  In recent years, thanks to the efforts of its younger generation, they, with the spirit of the Bihua Cloth Ox to strive to do better, combine the elements of the industry, creativity obtained from daily life, art and cultural activities, traditional festivals, cloth-related art culture, and tourism to integrate the traditional spirits of Bihua Cloth Street with the modern culture of western festivals to bring the image of the cloth street to life again while exhibiting its energies. In hope that by doing so, it brings back the glory it once had.  In order to promote its overall development, shape the image of the cloth street and build a consensus among people there, stores on Bihua Cloth Street founded “Sanchong Cloth Street Association” in 2008, offering courses such as quilt making, cloth dyeing, embroidery, painting, making artifacts used in daily life, folklore artifacts, and big–size stuffed-puppets from time to time.  In addition, “The Cloth Street Rock Carnival”, “Cloth Dolls Rock Carnival”, “Full of Sweetness, Show Your Love”, “Cloth Wins, Crazy Yet Splendid” are organized to show the local government‘s support for the development of the Cloth Street. This year, the festival is the “Halloween” costume activity that still centers on the cloth-related art. Moreover, the local government hopes to improve the interaction between local stores and visitors, conveying the energetic image of the cloth stores as well as spreading cloth-related art craftsmanship. Also, with this activity, local stores are encouraged to change the decoration at their stores, promote their creative products for not only building the overall image of art and creative cloth-related art business circle but also attracting visitors to experience the art and cultural atmosphere there through activity and advertisement promotion.

Activities 

Trick or Treat: Kids dressed in different costumes will ask for candies in stores on Bihua Cloth Street, constructing the happy atmosphere of Halloween.

Parent-Kid Theater: Well-known children’s troupes have been invited to bring positive and educational dramas for parents and their children to have a happy and interactive time together, allowing children to enjoy a happy evening at the cloth street.

Halloween Creative Costume Competition: Use Halloween costumes as the theme of the competition and invite professional professors and fashion designers to choose the most engaging entries and reward them.

Bihua Street Hand-Made Product Workshop: Cloth art teachers from the Bihua Cloth Street and the participants will play with cloth together to create something new.

Art Performances: Performances brought by music groups, creative shows by street performers and other shows are available there, allowing visitors to enjoy a rich artistic and cultural feast and appreciate various shows and an atmosphere full of arts and culture.
 
A Trip to the Cloth Street: Whether to take a look at the decorations and cultural and creative products in stores or to buy cloth at bargain prices, visitors are guaranteed to be constantly amazed there.  Also, they may join in the prize-drawing activity there.
