(10/29-10/29) Sanchong Bihua Street Halloween Carnival

Objectives

After Taiwan restoration, the retail cloth businessmen started to gather in Bihua Street which formed the prototype of Sanzhong Cloth Street. It reached its peak in the 70s and enjoyed a reputation worldwide. After the 80s, the textile industry in Taiwan withered and it impacted severely the cloth street. Thanks to the efforts of the young generation as well as the hard-working spirit of the Bihua Cloth Ox, a dynamic museum which centers on the cloth art culture is established in the hope that the glory of the cloth street will be once again displayed.

< Bihua Temple and Bihua Cloth Street> Shakyamuni Buddha is worshiped in Bihua Temple. The history of the temple could be traced back to 2 years before the establishment of Republic of China. It was not a big temple back then, only a religious center for people in Fenziwei. The majestic architecture was the result of renovation underwent in the 62nd year of R.O.C. and since then, it has been always crowded with believers. Bihua Cloth Market is the wholesale center for various kinds of cloth and there used to be 200-300 cloth stores here. However, with the withering of Taiwan garment industry, only 1/3 of the stores are left doing rag wholesale now. In 2006, Sanchong Township Office started to make plans for transforming the cloth street into a "Cloth Museum Area".
