Banqiao Video Games Music Festival

Introduction

The annual Music Cultural Festival of Banqiao has been an epicenter of arts development since 2005. Furthermore, the National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA) is located in Banqiao, and it has nurtured countless artists, including the world renowned director,Mr. Ang Lee. In recent years, NTUA established various animation faculties, and its collaboration with actual industries proves to be fruitful. Hence this year, a games and music festival is held to provide a remarkable experience both for the avid games fans and those who appreciate classical music.

 

Activity Content:

1. VGL Gaming Multimedia Symphony, Banqiao City

World renowned gaming music masters Tommy Tallerico and Jack Wall are invited to Taiwan to conduct a gaming symphony that infuses educational elements in collaboration with NTUA students. The symphony will consist of simultaneous gaming display, brilliant lighting effects and numerous interactions, which guarantees an “explosive” experience.

 

2. Digital Cultural Creative Market

Experts in ceramics, glass and combined arts (jewel craft, enamel, wood works, fiber, etc.) are invited to the market, and through aworkshop format, they provide skills development and creative contributions that have market value.

 

3. Games and Animations Trend Workshop, and Digital Music Seminar

Through an international trend workshop, communication is allowed between industry, governmental and academic sides. Through the sharing of experiences, we hope to bring out future Chinese gaming talents and potential development. The Digital Music 

Seminar invites national renowned digital music producers to discuss with the general public about how music is utilized in movies,TVs, gaming and advertisements.

 

 

Purpose

By the experiences and results gathered from hosting Music Culture Festivals, we hope we can invite Video Games Live to Taiwan and collaborate with NTUA and various community groups and artists to portray Banqiao as a digital city. Through the workshops and seminars, young people and citizens of Banqiao can rediscover themselves. We also hope the events can inspire them to develop their potential and make them to take charge of their own future.

 

 

Local Attractions

The Lin Family Mansion and Garden

Built in Qing Dynasty of Guangxu year 14, originally known as Banqiao Villa, the Lin Family Mansion and Garden is currently a 

second degree monument. Today only about 5000 pings of the mansion and garden are preserved. Its architecture and design 

imitate those of Suzhou Garden: intricate craftsmanship, beautifully located pavilions and elegant environment. The mansion and garden is a picture perfect scene and also a masterpiece of Taiwanese architecture during the Qing Dynasty. (1ping= 3.30 sq.ft.)

 

Pastry Street

Located in the proximity of Nanmen St. and is a hub of numerous well-known pastry stores: Danby, Rivon, Sain, Isabell and King Food. The old Changxing Pastry Shop is wildly popular and has become a household name in Banqiao. Their homemade cakes such as bean paste cakes and meat pastries are the most popular because of their great tastes and smell. Be sure to taste its meat pastries and white bean pastries!

 

Nanya Tourist Night Market

The night market is located between Nanya East Rd. and Nanya 1st Street with Fuzhong MRT station nearby. Various local 

delicacies like milk popcorn, medicine-stewed ribs, catfish, sesame oil chicken and the popular oyster noodles, peppered with many interesting games stalls make it the number one choice for night time travel in Banqiao.
